 · Don Smith, a longtime racing supporter, car owner, sponsor, director and an inductee of both the USAC Hall of Fame () and National Sprint Car Hall of Fame () passed away Sunday morning, Ap. He was 90 years old. Born in , Smith was involved in a plethora of racing activities. By the time he was eight in , his love of racing had developed as he had his own car to “race” in the backyard dirt track. In the mid ’s, he entered and competed in some total destruction demolition derbies. He got involved in Stock Car racing in Nanaimo in and won the rookie-of-the-year title.
